Book presentation and Reiju Kai
The authors Silke Kleemann and Amanda Jayne will present their book Women in Reiki. It offers new insights into the origins of Reiki and into life in Japan when the first women began to practise. At the same time, it deepens the understanding of Reiki through a closer connection with Japanese culture.
It is the first book to focus on the Japanese women who practised Reiki in the 1930s. It tells the story of their lives, the society they lived in, and their efforts to preserve Reiki. At its heart are the stories of Chiyoko Yamaguchi, Hawayo Takata, Chie Hayashi, Kimiko Koyama, and other women who lived Reiki in their daily lives and passed it on through generations.
The authors Silke Kleemann from Germany and Amanda Jayne from England have been practising and teaching Jikiden Reiki, traditional Japanese Reiki, for over 20 years. Both are Dai Shihan. You can find out more about the book and the authors on their website Women in Reiki.
Note: The book presentation takes place on the 100th anniversary of the death of Mikao Usui Sensei, the founder of Reiki.
