What does Reiki means?
The word Reiki was formed from the Japanese words REI “mind” and KI “life energy”. Usui called his treatment method “Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho”, “The Usui treatment method for improvement of body and mind”.

The expression “Jikiden Reiki” ist not a new form of Reiki, on the contrary, it is the traditional unchanged Japanese Reki treatment method. Jikiden Reiki is not mixed with other Reiki techniques or treatment methods and has thereby preserved its original and clear focus and strength. In 1999 Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son Tadao Yamaguchi founded the School “Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai” to pass on the valuable original Reiki knowledge in a unmodified form.
What is the difference between Jikiden Reiki and Western Reiki?
Both have their roots in Mikao Usui Sensei’s Reiki. Nevertheless, they cannot be compared, as Western Reiki (Takata lineage) has left some elements behind and added some new ideas and concepts of other treatment methods. The Jikiden Reiki (Hayashi line) is a very original form of traditional Japanese Reiki. In the Jikiden Reiki training the Byosen concept, the Kekko technique and the original Shirushi (symbols) are taught, wich do not occur in western Reiki. A certified Shihan Kaku (Assistant Teacher) or a Shihan (Teacher) can only be someone who has the necessary practice hours and experiences with clients.
What is Byosen?
Byosen is a Japanese term that describes the deposition of toxins that causes a blockage of body fluids. The sensors of a five-membered perception system guide the hands of the Reiki therapist to the body parts, where tensions, indurations or disorders appear. What is Kekko?
